Lamya A. Kamel, L.Ac, Dipl. OM, MSTOM

Lamya is NCCAOM certified in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Traditional Oriental Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College in Chemistry and Physics, and a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She received her Diplomate in Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Lamya completed a four-year academic program in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and western biomedicine. While in school, she did a three-year clinical internship where she successfully treated patients aged 10 weeks to 92 years for weight-loss, anxiety, depression, infertility, seizure disorders, gynecological symptoms, gastrointestinal disorders and both chronic and acute pain.
Lamya completed a 15-month internship with Frank Scott, L.Ac in acupuncture with a focus on Chinese herbology. There she was integrally involved in designing herbal formulas for his patient population. She also interned with Dr. Lixin Sha assisting her and gaining experience in fertility and oncology. She has been a member of the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ILAAOM) for four years as the student representative for Pacific College for two years and a member of the legislative committee for one year, bridging her love of politics and wellness. Lamya is particularly interested in integrative medicine and research in the use of acupuncture for disease prevention.
In her free time she enjoys biking, basketball, crossword puzzles and spending time with her nephews.

Kate E. Phillippi, L.Ac, Dipl. OM, MSTOM, FABORM

Kate is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, IL where she received a Master’s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM). She is nationally board certified by the NCCAOM and licensed in the state of Illinois. She received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Otterbein College.
Kate’s master’s degree training consists of a four-year, 3,000-hour program with instruction in Western medical anatomy, physiology and patho-physiology, Chinese medical theory, which includes acupuncture, herbology & therapeutic massage, as well as over 1,000 hours of hands-on clinical experience.
Kate has gained additional clinical experience working at Chicago Women’s Health Center where she treated patients with a host of different women’s health disorders. Kate completed an internship with Frank Scott, L.Ac where she gained extensive experience in Chinese herbology. She is the secretary of the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ILAAOM) and is a member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). Kate is also a placenta encapsulation specialist; she completed her training with Placenta Benefits. She is a fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) and has completed (and continues to do) extensive training and education in reproductive medicine.
Kate has experience treating women’s health conditions (such as infertility, pre-menstrual syndrome, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), irregular/painful menstrual cycles, menopause-related symptoms, pregnancy, and postpartum), digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, general pain, cancer treatment side effects, stress, post-stroke symptoms, sinus problems, and thyroid disorders. She uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Chinese therapeutic massage, nutritional therapy and other accessory techniques to promote healing and well-being.
In her free time she enjoys cooking, yoga, painting, reading and spending time with family and friends.
